solve any of your problems for you,
but I can help you to solve your own problems,
and doing that will make you feel better."
Carl Rogers (founder of Person-centred Counselling)
What is Counselling?
Counselling is a broad term which covers a range of talking therapies. It is delivered by trained and qualified practitioners and provides you with a regular time and space in which to talk about your troubles and to explore difficult feelings within a safe and confidential environment.
A counsellor is there to accompany you on your journey of
exploration. Your counsellor will listen to you without judgment and offer
you empathy and support in whatever is going on for you.
Anyone! We offer counselling to people in all walks of life. We will make you very welcome and offer you free refreshments. We understand that you may be feeling apprehensive or upset, and we use the utmost discretion and fully confidentiality.
There is no stigma in coming to counselling. Tackling problems with a trained professional can help to make us better functioning human beings, more resilient, more open and better able to form meaningful relationships with loved ones. All counselling sessions are fully confidential, and our counsellors abide by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) Code of Ethics.
How can Counselling help?
based upon the philosophy that we all have the potential to grow and to change
our lives in a positive way. You are the only person who knows what is best
for you and with the support of a counsellor, you may work out how to overcome
the difficulties that you are experiencing.
Equilibrium offers a calm, peaceful atmosphere with private and comfortable therapy rooms, in which you can explore your feelings, find answers to your difficulties and discover the best outcome for yourself.
